Richard A. Buell, age 83, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013.
was born September 28, 1929 in Michigan City, IN to Kenneth and Elsie (Handtke) Buell who preceded him in death. Richard married Jeanette Neulieb on February 12, 1949 in Michigan City, IN.
Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years: Jeanette Buell; children: Katherine (John) Roach, Richard K. (Dava) Buell, Douglas L. (Renee) Buell, Thomas J. (Deborah) Buell and Wayne A. (Catherine) Buell; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister: Betty Wolsifier. He was also preceded in death by his sister: Geraldine Morse and brother: Donald Buell.
Richard was a 1947 graduate of Springfield Township H.S. Richard was a superintendent with General Construction of Michigan City, IN for over 30 years, he also loved to farm. Richard served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Richard was a Justice of the Peace from 1961 to 1970, he became a Free Mason in 1961. He was a member of Acme Lodge #83 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Tall Cedars, and Orak Temple.
Richard was on the board of Directors for the LaPorte County Fair, and was inducted into the Indiana Hall of Fame Association of Fairs in 1999.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN. Masonic Memorial Service will take place at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Bill Barnes of Faith City Assembly of God Church, Michigan City, IN will be officiating.
Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery with Full Military Honors by American Legion Skwiat Post #451 and Michigan City VFW Post #2536.
Memorial Contributions may be made to American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society or The American Diabetes Association.
