Mr. Harold H. Roth, age 91, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Franciscan St. Anthony Health Center. Friends may call at Carlisle Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 with a Memorial service at 7:00 P.M. Rev. William Fine, officiating. Followed by a Masonic Memorial Service. Burial of ashes will be held in Swan Lake Memorial at a later date.
Harold was born in Michigan City, Indiana, on January 14, 1920, to Herman and Elsie (Komnatzke) Roth. Both preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Alice E. (Barnes) Roth, whom he married on September 20, 1942. He is also survived by his 3 daughters – Judith (Ronald) Fegley, of Yelm, Washington, May (Michael) LaRocco, of Galien, Michigan, and Luann (John) Wahl, of LaPorte, Indiana; 7 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters – Althea Bancroft, of Irons, Michigan; Elaine Roth, of Portage, Michigan, and Eilaine Roth, of Battle Creek, Michigan.
Harold was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, the Acme Lodge No. 83 F & A.M., Scottish Rite, and Orak Shrine. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and he worked as a printer for the Hammond Times for 23 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and spending time with family and friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Shiners Children’s Hospital.
