Lawrence Anthony Ulbrich

Lawrence "Larry" Anthony Ulbrich, age 62 of Merrillville, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011. Larry was a graduate of Munster High School, Class of 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict (1967-1971) and attended Indiana University. Larry was a member and past Union Rep of Local #125, IATSE. He served as a Police Commissioner for the Town of Merrillville for seven years. Larry was a life member of VFW Post #1563 in Merrillville, the American Legion Post 430, a member of Orak Shrine in Michigan City, the South Bend Consistory and Glen Park Lodge No. 732, F & A.M. He was the fundraiser chairman and original member of Merrillville Ross Township Veteran's Memorial Precinct and Committeeman in the City of Merrillville.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Arline; and brother, Dennis Royce Ulbrich. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Goodie Ulbrich of Merrillville; daughter, Jamie (Shaun) McLain, M.D. of Indianapolis; two grandsons: Liam and Eamon; brother, Robert A. Ulbrich; sister, Terry Gail (John) Davis of Florida; and many devoted friends and neighbors.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Glen Park Lodge #732, F & A.M. will hold services on Monday at 7:00 p.m., all at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Cremation will follow the visitation. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home. Interment of cremains will be at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
